parenting 101

last week an australian girl added me on msn by mistake. after a while, she said there was something she wanted to ask me about. she is 16, living with her bf and his parents. she's not on talking terms with her own parents.

she is also not talking to her bf because he was pissed that she was talking to some other guy.

the thing she wanted to ask me was that she just discovered she had breast cancer and she wondered if she should tell her parents about it. "obviously you should," i told her. she didn't want to, but agreed that she would if it got worse.

today she messaged me and i asked her if she told her parents about it. this is what she said.

"that i had some bad news and that the bad news was that i may have cancer and then they said that they hated me and that i was a mistake and that they never wnt to see me agan

and for me to go die"

  • Hey, at least she told them. She tried and if her parents are too indifferent to give a shit, that's their own fault. As much as she may be okay with it, I know how bad it sucks to have parents who don't care about you. Kudos to her for attempting communication with them anyways.

As far as her bf being pissed at her, she needs to tell him to grow the fuck up. It's not like she can avoid talking to or seeing other guys for the rest of her life: she'd have to cut out her tongue and gouge her eyes out for that to work...

Hope they caught the cancer early enough and things get worked out for her.
